If I was betting, I’d put a few shekels on White. That seems like the UCLA way. Hire an alum. I’m skeptical. I don’t want a sefensive guy. He really doesn’t check any of the boxes I’m looking for. The one potential upside is that he might engage ex football alums to fund NIL like many of the hoops guys want Earl Watson.
Hard to sell the Toledo guy when Day just chose Chip over him to be the OC at OSU. That would be a tough pill to swallow.
If I had to pick someone from this list my first choice would be Brian Hartline. He had the most upside. GREAT recruiter GREAT coach. He’s just soooo inexperienced. Who knows if he’s even interested but he’s a big risk and swing.
My second choice would be Bienemy. Not because I’m thrilled with him, but he thr best of a bad lot. EB has a nice resume. He has collegiate and professional experience. He’s had a stint at UCLA. I think he’d prefer to stay in the NFL and he may be too tough for 2024 college. The problems is we aren’t dining at Per Se we’re are feeding at the thought in Golden Corral. I’d still write this year off and wait until the options were broader and better.
