Harbor, you are confusing potential outcomes with the quality of the hire. Even if Foster ends up be great, that does not make this a good hire. I have hired many high-level managers, and my job always was to maximize the chances that this hire would be successful. And, there is no history to show that Foster is qualified--no HC experience, no coordinator experience, no evidence to show he is a high-level recruiter, no evidence that he will create excitement with the donor population, no idea of his offense, his defense, nothing. So he might turn out to be great. But, if I took a candidate such as this to my board, and said he is our guy, I would have been fired for not doing my job.
