Bruin basketball fans are way ahead of the football fans

Over there, they don't even pretend HS recruiting matters. As each of these recent HS (Euro too) recruits fails to move the needle in basketball, the fans are excited to see which TRANSFER will take their scholarship. Their interest in HS recruiting is where it should be. Low to zero.

In basketball, transfers have a clear, visible and immediate impact on results. Far less so in football. Perhaps this is why Bruin football fans are still living in the 1990s when HS recruiting was the only thing. Life has changed football folk.

NIL is now all important, but recognize that football NIL is a totally different problem than basketball NIL. We just now, after 4(?) years of NIL finally have a football NIL specialist!

And Ucla considers itself an elite institution! No. It's too stupid and slow to compete in the open market of NIL. Jarmond's good at collecting a salary and vesting a pension, but he knows nothing about the speed of business or how to succeed in market competition. He'll be a loud voice for government regulation of NIL. Wait for it.

So, the government program known as Ucla sat out CFB's move to a free market model. It botched football NIL, killed it in the crib years ago. We'll see if Andy Meyers can now revive and fix it (50/50 chance). Jarmond needs to shove off and we need a business mind in his place.

For now, in our impoverished NIL state, the razzmatazz about the new Foster regime and their recruiting "energy" is just pap pumped out by Jarmond's old, Ucla government carcass and the Bruin parasites on the web like BRO.

Foster won't move the NIL needle, neither will the fact that Bienemy carried a clipboard for Reid and he knows Mahomes or that they have open practices and a spring "game". That's all great for Jarmond and BRO and for stupid fans, but it's crap for us. What matters to us is Meyers and MoW's recovery because that's where the future talent will come from. Not from "wanting to be a Bruin" or being "passionate".

And when it comes to getting talent, despite highly salaried and pensioned government employee Jarmond's smiles and blue soap bubbles, nothing will happen until the hard NIL money says so. Since Jarmond rendered football noncompetitive in NIL money, Ucla football will be noncompetitive until it gets more money.

Whatever NIL money Ucla football does actually have, it should spend 75% of it in the transfer portal and retaining the best of its existing talents. Sorry BRO, but your HS star ranks are irrelevant, as are all the puff pieces about this or that "4 star" taking an official visit, or---wow!---Ucla offered a 5 star!! We live in a money driven CFB world where transfers are varsity players, HS recruits are JV players. Ucla can't afford a JV.

Cancel your BRO subscription and donate to MoW instead.
