It's hard to call it artificial turf anymore since this is night and day compared to the old turf. It's very low cost maintenance. It really can be easier on the knees and body.
High school fields probably use that more now. Even if you turn on SEC baseball during the week, almost all teams seem to be playing on the turf. I went to a game in Austin 12 years ago and they have the turf for the infield and around the plate. The mound is the only dirt.

The Raiders use grass on tray system and that is continuous maintenance and a lot of watering. Mark Davis made sure that was always in place. Everything else in the stadium is turf though.

I'm hoping that the Rose Bowl never converts over. There is still something to the smell of the fresh cut grass at the Rose Bowl that still brings memories.
