Your post is a great one for BZers. It is certain beyond any reasonable doubt that nearly everyone---if not everyone---active here sees the world exactly as you've laid it out. The rankings are real and precise enough to delineate fine grades of quality, like the difference between a 60 and a 44. You have posted a magnum opus for the board and I know there are dozens of nodding heads as your post gets read.
Recognize that this way of thinking was assigned to you by the Parasite. You get that, right?
What this view misses is the massive hyperbole visited upon Bruin fans to the detriment of the program's stability.
In base reality we're still the same Ucla program we were six months ago. Nothing has changed at all but the hype. 25, 39, 44, 60, 90. These are all meaningless numbers. If we stipulate that 2023 was a middling class, then we must stipulate that 2024 is also. There's no meaningful difference. There is no change other than middling then was considered lazy, whereas middling now is considered powerful and resurgent.
