When you then go on to explain how exactly what I am saying is playing out - too much money allocated in one place makes it very difficult to fill out a balanced roster.
Purdy's deal will be huge, particularly if he gets them to the Super Bowl again, and the only reason that the Niners have been able to pay so many other guys on the roster is because of how they lucked out with Purdy's contract up until now. And yeah, I'm sure they will backload his contract but it's still going to have some painful cap hits.
Dak will get a huge deal either with Dallas or somewhere else, and Stroud's deal in couple of years is going to be insane. These deals don't just reset the top of the market, they reset the entire market for starting qbs.
