... the ball are:
1. Ucla doesn't practice fast/hard. Under Chip, Ucla got in 150 snaps per practice. Fozzie Bear completely abdicated the o to Bieniemy. And thus, the pace of practice. Ucla only ran 100 snaps per practice in spring. Over 15 spring practices, that is 750 less reps. Add in 20 more fall camp practices, that's another 1000 reps. Is it any wonder that Ucla looked so undercooked and unprepared at the start of the season? And they've never been able to catch up.
2. Castillo didn't give the ol the run blocking schemes until fall camp, per an interview with Josh Carlin. Again...undercooked. under-practiced. Ill-prepared.
3. Castillo ordered Carlin and DiGiorgio to pork up. They each added 20+ pounds. Now they're fat and slow and weak.
4. Castillo has a shiit eye for talent. He elevated Unije to starting LOT, running off Fina, who looks good playing at Duke. Alani Makihele has been an even bigger bust. The starters now are guys that were on Ucla's roster last year.
This year has been an absolute shiit show. Foster lost Ucla's "we run the ball" identity in one game.
And I don't see him ever regaining it. He learned nothing from SIX YEARS of working for chip.
