I’m not even close to a soccer fan, but I happen to know a lot the development of kids from rec to pro, because my kids played for NYCFC’s youth team for 1 year before choosing hoops over soccer. Almost to a man, every person who understand the development of players in the US has placed primary blame on 2 things. 1. Pay to play at the youth level and 2. College. The collegiate concept has been a huge detriment to development. But this is all besides the point.
It will be paid for by MLS, USL, USMNT and others. As you know, soccer is a very inexpensive game at its core. Thats the point of my post here; I didn’t paste this because anyone cares about soccer, but there is a new model for outside professional entities running their minor leagues. If soccer can do it, is football, baseball, hoops, lax, hockey, etc far behind. In addition, maybe it allows the USOC to take a more active role in swim, T&F,
Volleyball, etc.
