He has played in three games and put up some good though limited stats. Why would they put him in unless they thought he would give them a better chance to win? He's had two weeks of practice taking reps as the #1 QB. UCLA also doesn't have as much film to prepare for him. But aside from that, the performance of the team depends on a lot more than just the QB.
Betting lines don't even change more than a few points when an inferior backup plays.
