The old useful idiot theory applied to coaching. I never want to be the first. Has there ever been scenario in coaching where this worked?
Let’s be honest, good coaches are extremely smart and great leaders. They would be successful running Fortune 500 companies. I’d hire Nick Saban to literally be anything. Same with Coach K (who I’ve had the pleasure to speak). Whittingham is similar. Tomlin, Coughkin, Belicheck, Parcells, Riley, Spo, Kerr. Literally any coach that has excelled is extremely smart and exhibits great leadership qualities.
I wouldn’t hire Foster to run a lemonade stand.
