Not so much. Don’t let anyone tell you this is the peak. ABC has to be jubilant with its deal with the SEC. There is a minor caveat in the ultimate breakdown of top 100 because of Paramkunt, but I’m not real familiar with this idiosyncratic issue.
The entire article I linked is interesting, but the quote below is the relevant part to ucla fans. UCLA had exactly ZERO games ranked in top 100 by viewership. The interest in the west just doesn’t seem to be there. The playoffs were way off from last year. Lots of possible reasons: (1) too hard to compete with NFL, (2) games on non-traditional days, (3) too many college games, and (4) it’s difficult to motivate people to watch “undeserving” teams a la Boise.
“Assimilating the Pac-4 into the Big Ten was anything but seamless. Oregon's undefeated regular season astoundingly generated only three top-100 appearances: when the Ducks played Ohio State and Penn State.
Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA combined for 19 appearances as Pac-12 members in 2023, and just seven in their first year the Big Ten's Western Flank. Certainly a change in team fortunes accounted for a large portion of the drop -- the Ducks, Huskies, Trojans and Bruins combined for 42 victories in 2023 and just 31 in '24. But three top-100 appearances apiece by Oregon and USC and one combined among UCLA and Washington was not part of the plan.”
