No we do not! Let any athletes who want to be paid get paid, in minor leagues unaffiliated with any self-respecting college -- just as has always been done with baseball.
I will admit, without the increasingly ridiculous, farcical, embarrassing sponsorship links with the universities, the minor leaguers' payouts would be less lucrative.

Hello? You don't support funding higher education? The problem isn't that the universities keep the money, the problem is that under our ridiculous system the money all goes only to the athletic departments of the universities.
