But I guess that's true of every move.
Let's review:
1. Nico is THE most unpopular player in cfb right now. He's seen as a greedy scumbag with no sense of loyalty
2. There's a risk that the locker room will look at nico with suspicion (at best) or resentment (at worst). Suspicion, because thoughts like, "will be bail at the 1st sign of adversity?" have got to be going through the heads of the Bruins. Resentment, because thoughts like, "how could we come up for the money for him but not David Bailey?" have got to be going through the heads of the Bruins. And also, "fvck, now I gotta answer questions about nico every time I talk to the media. Nico this, nico that. What about me, bruh?"
If this thing backfires, it's another data point in an already long list that DeShaun is in WAY over his head. Final kiss of death? No, probably not... by itself.
But if I'm DF, this is a risk I have to take. Nico is not a slouch. He's got ability. Ucla NEEDS guys with ability. Badly.
Ucla is a hungry program. Losing programs don't get to be picky when it comes to talent blue Jays. You say, "thank you, sir, may I have another?"
I think both the players AND the staff feel this way. So if Nico comes in with his head on straight, the players will accept him.
I guess this means so long, Joey.... we barely knew ya. Seriously.
