this can last long term. Was thinking about the NFL and NBA for instance and how both are going. In talking with quite a few people, they say NBA numbers aren't very good. One of the biggest reasons is they feel the players run the league and fans don't have connections to teams like they used to because players are there short term. The numbers seem to be showing that.

NFL, the owners really have the ultimate say, and the NFL numbers continue to do very well. Both have collective bargain agreements.

CFB, the players seem to be running things right now. For people like me, my connection is to Ucla football, not the short term player. My connection is fading fast. I can't believe I'm alone in that thinking.

Even though the viewership seems to suggest the CFP is successfull, at the end of the day, basically 18 programs generate over 50% of the revenue in CFB. So for most programs, what is happening sure doesn't seem to be sustainable.

As far as NIL, I thought the whole point of NIL was I could pay an athlete whatever I wanted because I wanted to pay him/her directly strictly because they are who they are. Everything sure seems to be pay to play instead, which I thought wasn't allowable.

The biggest frustation though for fans like myself. Getting back to my connection to Ucla, I was following guys that had the same connection and wanted to be part of Ucla. While the HC can be a factor, it's the program that people should be chasing. So it really shouldn't matter what a HC does.

But this is the stage we're at and unfortunately, I just don't see how this is good for all of college football.
