He was supposedly actively looking to leave. If Ucla wanted to let Chip out of his contract, they would have had to buy him out. OSU had to pay his buyout clause. If OSU job wasn't there, where was Kelly going? No one wanted him. Kelly didn't look to have any intention of be a HC for Ucla in 2024.
As far as QB coach, I think White was hired after Foster became HC. Ucla didn't have an OC, Foster was leaving for the Raiders. Malloe was made DC after Lynn left. Kelly wasn't exactly working hard to make that happen. Most programs had their coaching staffs in place in January and Kelly was looking for another job? I wouldn't give him much credit for any effort into coaching searches.
As far as transfer players, those guys had already committed when they thought Kelly was going to be HC back in December. How many would have bolted or continued to transfer in had they known Kelly didn't want to be here?
