Happy, have you looked at some of the coaches on your list (+ others)

This is not a criticism of your post, just meant to point out the volatile nature of the coaching market. Some of these are from your list, while others I just threw in for discussion.

Candle - 3-3 at Toledo.
Kinne - 3-3 at Texas State.
Traylor - 3-3 at UTSA.
Entz, Fresno. Started well but got blown out by Colorado State on Friday.
Will Stein. Stock is down.
Tony White. Stock is down and probably out.
Jonathan Smith. Stock is down and probably out.
Ben Arbuckle. Stock took a hit, and he's younger than Jerry. No chance.
Mullen - doing well, but may get other offers and I don't think he's a great fit.

The more things develop, I think I want Fisch, and if not him, possibly Skipper if he can win 3-4 more games.

If you look around the country and historically, some of these coaches who've had success or shown promise haven't fit well at their new destinations or just turned out to be not very good: Jimbo Fisher, Chip Kelly, Luke Fickell, Belichick, Scott Frost, Lincoln Riley (I think eventually), Steve Kragthorpe, Ty Willingham, Jonathan Smith (apparently), Dirk Koetter, Jim McElwain, Larry Fedora, there are so many examples. And then some guys like Sonny Dykes, Kiffin, and Sarkisian fail at one place but get resurrected at places where they fit better. Or maybe just because of good fortune, who knows. Sometimes the pieces fit together and sometimes, they don't.

Skipper has so far been a good fit for UCLA. Hard to see us passing on him (if he continues to do well) to go for some guy from the lower FBS. Picking coaches can be such a crapshoot, so do you want to discard something that works/fits just to roll the dice one more time? And if Jerry continues to do well, how do you bring in a hot young coordinator as head coach? Isn't that basically what Jerry is or would be by the end of the season?

With the pro background of Bob Myers and Adam Peters, I guess I could see them trying to dig around the NFL for John Harbaugh 2007. Maybe that's how it'll end up.

But right now I still see an all-out push for Fisch. But then, what if in Skipper's run he beats Fisch, and Fisch only goes 8-4 or 7-5? That basically puts him a shade over .500 at UW and for his career. Are we gonna toss Skipper aside for this guy who has had one good season at Arizona, and who will cost a fortune?
