In Reply to: You are incorrect. It's the Rose Bowl Operating Company suing UCLA... posted by Impgard on October 30, 2025 at 17:48:26

I am aware that The Rose Bowl Operating Company is different from the Tournament of Roses Association. Everything I said applies equally to both. The those running the game, and those operating the stadium believe are very much living in the past, believing they possess something in the present that holds the same relevance that it did in the past and fighting tooth and nail in a losing cause to preserve their delusions.

And regardless of who filed the suit, the suit is unlikely to go anywhere (which was the main point anyway). As I previously stated, it is a flex by the Rose Bowl (Operating Company) and the city of Pasadena, who (as the song goes), are like a little old lady, trying to prop up something with impregnated with the scent of mothballs, which has become a sad relic of its former self. There is nothing fast and shiny sitting in the garage, just an old jalopy that barely goes at all. The only people that care about the Rose Bowl (as a stadium) and the Rose Bowl (game), are the those who responsible for maintaining them. The game is essentially gone, and the playoff committee continuing to keep the stadium as a playoff venue is akin to humoring the little old lady, who was once been a glamorous star, but can long longer carry a tune that anyone really wants to hear to save her life. At the end of the day, if they were to build a modern stadium on the footprint of the current one, perhaps saving and incorporating elements of the original facade into the new design, nobody is going to mourn the loss, just as Bears fans don't long for a return to the old Soldier Field or Browns fans long for a return to the Mistake on the Lake. Nor does anyone wish the Jaguars played at the old Gator Bowl or is the Metrodome mourned by Viking's fans visiting US Bank Stadium, etc., etc., etc. So long as the weather is nice out in January and the television broadcast can capture a shot of the stadium in the line as the San Gabriel Mountains, everybody, save the Little Old Lady from Pasadena, would be thrilled to be sitting, watching the game in a state of the art modern facility rather than one reeking of mothballs.
