I have been following this board for many years and would venture to guess that threads complaining about the afternoon sun at the Rose Bowl rank amongst the 10 most commonly revisited topics throughout this board's entire history. "Oh the sun is no big deal" Yet for many years, fans with the seats on the sunny of the stadium had been clamoring for UCLA to put the team on the shadier side, because of how much just sitting and watching the damn game under the oppressive glare of the sun took out of them.

And yes, the Arroyo Seco has some lovely scenery and views, which I'm sure future residents of the condos that replace the Rose Bowl stadium will no doubt appreciate. I suspect that if there was more to appreciate going on the field during games the need to have picturesque surroundings to help soften the blow of one defeat after another might be less. And while tailgating on a golf course certainly does have it's perks, fans at every other stadium, college and pro across the country seem to make do and find ways to enjoy themselves even without being surrounded by 18 holes.

And as for your whine on wine, whether or not you and your muff like it, concessions at many stadiums are a major source of revenue. Given that none of us have seen the numbers on the proposed deal with Sofi, I think is premature to conject that it will represent a financial bloodbath.
