In 2005, with a 9-1 record, going against heavily favored USC in the Coliseum, and facing fourth and short at the SC 35 early in the first quarter, Dorrell had a chance to show SC and Pete Carroll we weren't going to lay down. But even with capable kicker Justin Medlock on the sidelines, Dorrell elected to punt...And our punter, of course, knocked the ball into the end zone for a touchback. So we gained nothing except showing Carroll we weren't to be taken seriously.
We ended up losing, 66-19.
That exchange pretty much summed up Dorrell's career at UCLA.
