OK, that is reasonable. The pattern UCLA football has had more or less for the past two decades is to recruit mostly average players (3 star). The team then does not do well. A lot of the players then leave for one reason or another. (graduation or portal) The coach then replaces the current three star players with more three star player. However, for some reason, we are supposed to believe that the new players are better than the previous ones.
People get all excited talking about how the new players are in positions of need. OK, great, but getting a player in a position of need if said player is average doesn't get you much. Coaching only goes so far and it has not gone very far for UCLA in a long time.
This same cycle has been happening year after year after year at UCLA.
I know it is early so I hope the recruiting under Chesney improves, but I have been saying this for twenty years now and it is getting old...
