After so many heart breaking losses to USC, finally, luck went our way.
From that point until 1999, we were in every game with our hated rival which included the eight game winning streak, the longest conscurtive winning streak by any team in the series.
It 's probably no coincidence that we soon went to four New Year's Day Bowls in five years, including three Rose Bowl wins.
