I was raised in the 60’s, and the rivalry was already heated and intense. My parents (Mom was a UCLA grad, Dad was a diehard fan since at least Red Sanders) taught me to hate the cardinal and gold with passion. “Game Day” was the biggest day of the year, and a victory (or defeat) lingered for months.
