worked for one for 30 years. The problem for you is that companies do not have a rate filing for people who occasionally store a car. Plus if you didn't want to file a non operation status with the DMV it has to keep full coverage. You can't have it both ways. Either the coverage is suspended or it's not. I would do what I suggested and just temporarily reduce all your coverages.
Your rate went up because everyone in your rating territory got a rate increase. Again, there's no special rate for a car in a garage for 3 months.
I carried my auto ins., homeowner ins, boat ins. life ins., and umbrella ins with Allstate for 30 years with no claims AND was a 20 yr employee and they cancelled my homeowners policy. That ended my loyalty. When their rates went up I took it all to Progressive and saved $1,000 and later to State Farm and saved even more.
They are all cut throat profiteers just like big pharma.
