The alliance which underpinned NATO was forged thru a century of shared democratic values, two world wars and decades of facing down Russian expansionism and imperial ambitions. Trump has so thoroughly degraded US diplomacy by openly siding with and accepting help from Putin and has eradicated the bases for that alliance that it isn’t going to come back. If he is so servile to a greatly weakened Russia, what is he going to do when they gorge on Ukraine and move on to other targets after rebuilding their military which has been decimated .
