athlete could not have spiked the ball with the same level of force that could generate this kind of injury upon direct contact.

Also this needs to be compared with known cases where this level of injury comes about from this exact scenario among male athletes in this age group. It seems to me a lot of this is based on a hunch and probably not a lot of facts.
