It's pretty much a natural extension of how things have been going. And he probably doesn't need Europe to get involved. You know that claim that's been going around about how Zelenskyy has been selling his weapons to Hamas? Apply the principle that "every accusation is a confession", and what do you get? My guess is, weapons given to Israel are finding their way to Russia. Already, that is.
I'm sure Trump already made a deal with Putin about mineral rights. And he has a personal grudge against Zelenskyy for not having started an investigation on Biden during that "perfect call".
