I combined several of my retirement accounts last into one account and hired a financial manager. She is very shrewd and rebalanced my investments which were still very equity heavy and shifted money into balanced funds and hedged equity funds. Good for me. Still painful but not what it could have been. I also have some $$$ in annuities which have a fixed return and a small hedged annuity which is based on the S&P but return is capped at 6% return each year, but does not take losses, only goes up.
