Yeah, that Martin book is never coming out. The dude wove such an intricate web with so many players and plot points, there is no way he can pull them together at the end.
I mean, what makes his writing so good esp in terms of plotting is that he sets these characters up and lets them do what's natural for them, which leads to a very realistic plotting, but if you don't introduce any artificial plot manipulation somewhere along the way, your story will keep evolving and spinning off other tales as you go and will never really quite come together because real life never quite comes together. Things keep happening, people keep dying, and rarely do you ever get a neat wrap up with a bow on top.
I don't mind if there's no resolution to his story. I've enjoyed what he published and that's good enough for me.
