and can be implemented in the same way whether we're using the current districting based elections or proportional representation.
Also note that in the proportional representation model, at least in its ideal form, there are no districts. The whole state is on the table. Each party comes to the table with their own slate, i.e., candidates in and ordered list, where the top whatever many of them end up becoming representatives, proportional to the percentage of votes they picked up statewide. (This way the votes of people living in small geographic pockets can be pooled into a meaningful result, which means, people don't have to live in the right district to see their votes have an impact.)
I'm sure Ireland has something like this.
For really big states, I can imagine dividing them into two or three regions, which, to me, is more of an implementation question.
