I don't buy the idea that coalition governments are somehow inherently unstable.

Looking at Europe, it seems to me we've seen several examples of single-majority governments collapsing quickly, along with enduring multi-party governments.

I will also point out that when our own State Department tries to stand up a new democracy, they advocate for a parliamentary system.
