The NY Times in a new story about Trump blowing up boats says the first time they had survivors they did a double tap and killed them. Because lawyers told them that was blatantly illegal, the 2nd time it happened Trump and the Pentagon suggested sending the survivors to CECOT, the maximum security prison where they had sent Abrego Garcia! The argument was if they were brought to the US and went before US courts, they might be problematic since in reality they had virtually no evidence they were actually drug dealers, just that they were in a fast boat.
The state department and others caught wind of the plan and made it clear that was almost as bad as murdering the first 2 had been so they stopped the plan. INstead they repatriated them to their countries, and in both cases they were released without charges because they had zero proof they had broken laws and the US provided no evidence.
