Read an article recently that China would kick our butts if we defend Taiwan, partly because they've invested heavily in unmanned platforms, while we're apparently still stuck in the dark ages. And, apparenty, around Yemen, we were/are using million dollar missiles to shoot down $10,000 drones.
I tend to hyperbole, but if I was the leadership of Taiwan, I'd be inventorying the equivalent of one FPV drone, armed with the equivalent of a grenade, for everyone on the island. You don't need an expensive drone to carry and trigger a grenade. I'm not saying grandma and grandpa fly their own drones, but I'm talking that kind of volume.
Create an app where people can practice flying a fpv on their computer. They don't have great range, but if they can carry that grenade 5 miles out to sea, then they are going to blow up a lot of landing boats.
As for the US, if Lockheed, General Dynamics, and all the other merchants of death can figure out to make money off of cheap unmanned platforms, we done for.
