I think there is also a great deal of western economic work that frequently treads that line of colonialist attitudes. I am sure you can imagine these groups approaching third world nations with good intentions and a desire to show the natives how things work, slowly degenerating into trying to import western lifestyles, western social norms, and western ideologies while leveraging the good work all that started out as.
It takes a lot of diligence to have these kinds of efforts not slide into colonialist attitudes, IMO. A relationship between the more powerful and the less powerful, or those who need help and those who have the ability to deliver the help, is a very tricky proposition as a general rule.
But ... that's not a hill I'm willing to die on, to be fair.
