This is how power works. The sea will part in front of you if you are holding any meaningful position of power. We have a whole judicial system designed to make sure that's the case. Journalism is not all that insulated from the impact of power either.
The only thing *really* surprising about this whole thing is that this topic is still on our political agenda and has not fully been swept under the rug yet.
