The total number of airplanes downed by friendly fire in last 20 years of Afghanistan/Iraq is 3.

Air to ground friendly fire is more common, but no, the US losing front line aircraft to friendly fire is most decidedly *not* common. 3 aircraft in one day is absolutely unheard of.

It is indicative of major failure on the DoD's planners and the execution of this military venture. Somebody fked up really badly.
