He would decide it would be too costly to put boots on the ground for both the US and Iran, and therefore we need Hiroshima II to end the war "humanely."

Japan surrendered unconditionally. Hiroshima II would mean something less catastrophic than a modern nuclear bomb. So I would place by bet on mass casualties limited to a city or two. But then who gets to decide to surrender? We killed the Iranian version of Hirohito.

Of course we would have to deal with the post-war. Luckily Hiroshima II didn't result in Japanese insurgent forces. I am guessing Iran would be a lot more like Iraq than Japan in the postwar.
