Roughly three hours after Kalshi indicated that about 1 in 5 Trump supporters were expected to disapprove of him, Donald Trump delivered a prime-time address signaling further escalation in the Iran war. In the immediate aftermath, financial markets reacted sharply: global stocks fell, oil prices surged, and airline ticket prices jumped. This reaction reflects growing concern over supply disruptions, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, where a significant share of global oil and roughly one-third of seaborne fertilizer trade passes. As these disruptions intensify, rising energy and agricultural input costs are likely to feed into broader inflation.
Unfortunately, in addition, the Trump administration added a 100% tariff on foreign pharmaceuticals and their ingredients before the announcement of escalation which will make meds more expensive.
