He engaged with one of the most despicable regimes on earth - the Ayatollahs of Iran - and managed to make them into the good guys.
The USA is now the bad guy.
We are the nation that launched a surprise attack while negotiations were underway... the nation that bombed a girls school... that continues to pummel its opponent from the sky and promises to commit war crimes in pursuit of its ill-defined goals.
It's hard to come to grips with the sheer stupidity of it. This war punishes our allies and rewards our enemies. Some may argue that it was important to deal with Iran, but this "limited military excursion" has been implemented in a stupid and reckless manner. To proceed without our allies was stupid... to ignore the worldwide economic consequences to the straight of Hormuz was even more stupid... and to proceed without consulting Congress is a violation of the Constitution.
This incredibly stupid plan has now put Iran in the driver's seat: the Ayatollahs now decide whose ships pass through the straight. They will also decide when the war ends. All they have to do is hang on...
And I don't think Trump will let this war drag on for much longer. Will he commit our military to attack civilian targets as he has promised - bridges, power stations, etc.? Clearly, those are war crimes. Will he go nuclear? I put nothing past this moronic narcissistic sociopath.
The best solution is regime change... on both sides.
