1. Trump is America's id. Trump is what America has been for a long long time without the civilized, pseudo-democratic artifice around it.

When we invaded Iraq after 9/11, underneath all the "bringing democracy to the middle east" pretense was a huge oil construction business component to that action. When we invaded Afghanistan, one reason to take the Taliban down was to take over their natural resources (gas being one of them). When Papa Bush put together a coalition to push Iraq out of Quwait, the impact of the invasion on the oil market was a huge factor. So from that point of view, Trump talking about attacking Venezuela or Iran and openly talking about their oil is not so much something out of character for us, as it is the same old same old put into action without a glossy cover.

2. Trump The United States of America bombing a school in Iran is very much in line with the way IDF handles its war objectives: explicitly targeting civilian structures and children. The command structure of IDF and the Israeli government is stacked to the brim with sick, sadistic people. We are now part of the same design. (I actually need overt and clear evidence that the school was established as a target by the US military -- and of course, that it was established by mistake. Until that evidence is presented, my null assumption is that the target was determined by a combination of Israeli intelligence and some AI defense company, whether it's Palanmtir or some of the others out there -- for no reason other than how much it fits into how IDF fights wars.)

(On a related note: launching an attack while talks are going on or a temporary truce has been signed is also a prime IDF/Netanyahu government move.)

3. The problem with Trump being able to end the war is that he's been trying to do that for a while. It's just that Iran is not playing that game. They're the ones who are not calling it off even though Trump has been generous in giving them an out. That's because Iranians understand that ending the war when Trump wants to end the war amounts to ceding Trump his power moves. They have been doing that for a long time by the way. Every time Israel or the US attacked Iran up till this last time, they were pretty much putting together a half-hearted attack, while probably giving the coordinates of the target to the other parties under the counter. That strategy allowed for equilibrium to be maintained. It was a sign of goodwill that Netanyahu and Trump assumed was going to be a bottomless well. Turns out, not quite so.

4. I don't think there will be any regime change on either side at the end of this. I don't know where the offramp is but if we ever get there, it will still be the same power relation. It's just that Israel will turn its attention to its North and the US will join in their war on Lebanon and Syria. 'Coz there are only two ways to counter the ego injury Trump is suffering in the hands of Iran: either drop a nuke or two on Iran, or shift attention to a weaker enemy and obliterate them. whether that's Cuba or Lebanon or Syria remains to be seen.
