We'd been predicting doom in general elections if a Republican is elected since, 2000 maybe and we kept surviving until this year when the doom actually arrived.
Our politics is so sclerotic in nature that we have developed a bias towards "things never change" (for good or for bad). But at some point, the dam breaks. It's dialectics, baby!
