Until 2022, 25% to 30% of federal inmates were in private prisons.
Are there more inmates in state prison? Yes.
> The 1994 Crime Bill applied to federal crimes, so no it was not what fueled growth of private prisons.
That would be false, though currently the federal government has mostly phased out private prisons. (I'm not including ICE facilities.)
