I was a freshman at UCLA in 1985

That was 41 years ago. I am to today's freshmen what the college freshmen of 1944 were to me. WWII was still raging. FDR was still running the country. It was still 3 years away from Jackie Robinson's debut as a Dodger.

We heard a lot about what the 60s were like - civil rights marches, Vietnam, assassinations, etc. I thought all that stuff was ancient. Even John Wooden's dominance in college basketball was ancient and distant to me, but to our "elders," it was just yesterday.

A lot of you guys are even older than me. Let's commiserate away.
