Our sister institution UCSD reports a disastrous increase in percentages of supposedly qualified (lofty high school GPA) frosh who can barely read or do arithmetic. Grade inflation has made HS GPA near-meaningless, and in 2020 the UC system "progressed" to rule out SAT or ACT testing ("racist metrics"). Good luck with that!
Of course the whole secondary ed system in Cali is an unmitigated catastrophe. But not to worry. The teachers' unions are happy, and this is 2026. Who needs literacy or math?
