Current Status
The most important part of the story has been missed completely. And that point is this: The USA cannot be trusted.
Donald Trump unilaterally blew up the JCPOA, based on nothing more that his desire to break it. Trump's violation of the JCPOA showed the world that our country cannot be trusted. Moving forward, why should Iran or any other country negotiate with the USA if they can't trust us to adhere to our own promises?
