As I'm sure is obvious, this bums the hell out of me. The US is playing the best soccer they've ever played. Getting a lot of respect from the world soccer media. Even that total dooooshbag Lineker was giving the team their due.
There has been a lot of positive feedback from people visiting the US for the cup. Yes, I'm sure some of it is staged clickbait. But, there has been a lot of positive feedback.
This pretty much flushes all the good that has come from the cup. Even if Poch doesn't play Balo, the world will interpreting every ref decision as favoring the US. (which is comical. During a dead ball an Australian player chased Tyler Adams 10 yards before shoving to the ground. Straight red. No call. Aus should have been playing w 10 men. In the Bosnia match, Balo was in on the keeper, a Bosian defender grabbed Balo's arm from behind and pulled him backward. Balo skyed it. Clear penalty not given). But, ya, every call will be interpreted as favoring the US from here on out.
