the championship because I generally don't want to give New Yorkers one more thing to be insufferable about, but to my surprise they have taken it with sheer joy and almost a sense of humility and appreciation that I wasn't expecting to see. At least thus far, I haven't seen signs of arrogance that I thought we would.

COuld English fans surprise me if they win it all and just be happy and try not to rub it in everyone's faces? They will certainly have deserved it if they get past both Argentina and Spain ... but I'm not sure they'll keep it to just joy and appreciation. English fans are kinda ... distinct that way.

(Side note: My sister living in Norway was happy to see them eliminated because she though they were becoming unbearable. "If you think Turks are bad when they win" she said, and they are. I hate the current leaders of the league, Galatasaray with the passion of a thousand stars mostly because of their entitled, arrogant fan base, "Norwegians are worse".)

Joy and appreciation is all I'm looking for. Also, just don't riot in the streets because you won. :)
