MAGA prefer a strong leader over Democracy. That's almost half. That's how close we are to Authoritarianism.

The paper is titled “Support for authoritarianism and use of force by and against the federal government in the United States in mid-2025: findings from a nationally representative survey.” It surveyed 8,248 U.S. adults in 2025.

The relevant question was:

“Having a strong leader for America is more important than having a democracy.”

Among respondents classified as MAGA Republicans, 32.1% said they strongly or very strongly agreed. Among strong Democrats, the figure was 7.5%
