There are probably a few dozen people out there who envision being the Jeff Bezos of AI (including the actual Jeff Bezos). The guy who builds a huge category killer surrounded by a deep moat. If someone succeeds, it will open the gate for unprecedented wealth and power.
To achieve this, they are following the usual tech world practice of a spending race to secure an advantage now and defer profitability for years if not decades. The loosers will just declare bankruptcy and stick investors and banks with losses.
With so many players stepping up to the Baccarat table, I'd expect the losses to be huge.
