I know I keep saying that I think this is a key component of the mess we 're in across the board: like many adults who were abused as children, are in an abusive relationship, grew up in a dysfunctional or alcoholic families, we simply don't think deep down that we deserve better.
We simply don't see ourselves as having inherent worth.
