"Woke" phrases such as defund the police, abolish prisons, and pregnant person may have nuanced meanings but on the surface sound kind of ridiculous. Likewise words such as Latinx, created by well-meaning white folks but generally not used by speakers of Spanish, a naturally gendered language. Sometimes these "woke" oversimplifications can do more harm than good.
